Children Matters – Child Law
The welfare of the children of a relationship must come first during any relationship breakdown. We will always try and negotiate an arrangement for the children that both parties are happy with.
We have found that where parents can agree residence (previously known as custody) and contact between themselves the child or children will respond far more positively than where the Court imposes an order.
We have a specialist team of solicitors with extensive experience in the law relating to children.
We do not undertake work under a legal aid contract and therefore are only able to work on Private Law matters these include disputes between parents, grandparents, or siblings, about issues relating to.
- Residence (previously known as custody)
- Contact with the children
- Change of name
- Specific issues relating to schooling or upbringing of a child, and
- Parental rights.
Disagreements often arise particularly where couples are separating, and it is important to try to resolve disputes without delay and with the best interests of the child as the primary consideration.
We can advise you in respect of all children matters and have experience representing parents, grandparents, and other family members and if the dispute cannot be resolved by negotiation or mediation, we can issue Court proceedings in the local County Court to obtain appropriate Court Orders.
