Children Law Matters
Looking for a Child Custody Solicitor?
When a relationship breaks down and children are involved, it can be a very difficult and emotional time. Our dedicated and specialist family solicitor understands that children need to come first and will guide you through the process with a view to reaching an agreement about arrangements for the children wherever possible.
When parents separate important decisions will need to be made; for example, where a child will live and how much time they will spend with the non-resident parent. As members of ‘Resolution’ we promote a non-confrontational approach to family problems and encourage parents to work together to achieve the best possible outcome for your family. You can learn more about Resolution here.
Sadly, it is not always the case that an agreement can be reached and we would encourage parties to consider attendance with a mediator to assist in resolving the dispute amicably. Attendance at mediation can help preserve the relationship and communication between the parties and is in most cases a pre-requisite in the event that an application to Court is needed as an application to Court ought to be a last resort.
Our family solicitor is an experienced advocate and conducts hearings at the local Family Courts and will be able to provide robust advice and action where necessary; in addition to support and guidance throughout your case.
We advise and represent parents, and other family members, in respect of a wide range of cases including:-
- Child arrangements orders (e.g. where a child will live and/ or spend time with)
- Grandparent’s contact
- Parental responsibility
- Relocation of a child
- Prohibited steps orders
- Specific issue orders
- Change of name.
We offer a no obligation free half hour advice service.
